This is a place for a friendship between, and the creation of a deeper understanding of, our ancient mitochondrial DNA classified as N1b 176G. This is a rare grouping, hardly researched as yet, and appears to be centred upon the eastern Mediterranean shores, Italy, and the Caucasus mountains. The larger N1 group, covering mainly Askenazi Jews is much better researched and has the 176A, but our group with 176G appears to be apart from the Jewish fold, and of a 'lost' people, only 3% of the Levantine population having this DNA in modern times and it being even rarer elsewhere. Who were these ancient people? Naomi is the name given to the clan mother for the letter N. But for our group, of N1b 176G, we are choosing the clan mother name of Nana who was an ancient mother goddess of the Caucasus and of Sumeria in 3000 BCE..
